9 Tips To Having A Safe Nursery
There’s nothing more exciting than planning the nursery for your new infant. Today many people find out the gender of their baby ahead of time, which makes getting the nursery finished much easier for you when you bring your baby home from the hospital.
1.) When you are drafting up your dream baby nursery there are lots of things to consider. Of course you want it to be adorable, but it also needs to be a restful and safe environment for you baby. Have a checklist of all the safety guidelines for cribs and other infant items you’ll be using.

- Crib mattress needs to be free of any kind of plastic and no mattress pads
2.) You want everything in the whole room to be clean and fresh. There should be no quilts or comforters, blankets or stuffed animals in the crib no matter how cute they look. All these items can be dangerous when your child in under 12 months old. They could obstruct your babies breathing.
3.) If you don’t want to store away the quilt that came with your bedding set hang it on the wall as art. They look precious displayed in a room that way. You should be able to find appropriate holders for quilts at a hardware store
4.) It’s safer to have you infant lying on their back in their crib. However, they can move around and get themselves turned over. Try using a foam wedge placed by their side. This will prevent them from turning over on their stomach.
5.) You may want to have a changing table in the nursery. Some dressers are designed to be used as a changing table and come with a thick pad. Be sure the table has safety straps to prevent falls. The drawers and shelves should be easily accessible so you don’t need leave the baby unattended.
6.) If you are like most new parents you will want to be able hear if your baby seems to be distressed or crying. Having a baby monitor will allow you to hear your baby from anywhere in the house. If you prefer video to watch you baby then opt for one of those.
7.) A diaper pail is nice to have near by when changing diapers. You will want to get one that’s lid closes tightly and can be placed out of reach from your baby.
8.) A baby’s nursery should smell fresh and clean. Infants can be sensitive to smells and might cause sneezing and congestion for them. Try to stay away from perfumes or room fresheners, so their nursery is a clean restful environment for them.
9.) You want a place to keep toys and stuffed animals off the floor and out of the way. A toy chest is perfect for this. Make certain that the lid of the toy chest does not have a latch. There must be ventilation holes that can’t be blocked if it’s place up against a wall. The lid must have a support that holds the hinged lid open in any position. If you can’t find one like this opt for one with a detached lid.
Your babies nursery should be a safe place where your child will be safe from any injuries. You also want it to have a relaxed feeling for your baby can sleep peacefully.
